Week#7: Living as a Lycean

What is Lyceum for me? Well, Lyceum is a school that has two buildings and has a fancy overpass in front of it. It is in front of Yazaki Torres and like any other school it also has a treasury, ugh I mean a cafeteria. Pff, kidding aside what is lyceum for me.

hmm hmm.

Lyceum is where I learned more from experiences rather than from the actual lessons and lectures. (Siguro nakalimutan ko lang. :D ) This is the only place where I need to worry about how to hide my hair and how to be friends with the security guards. XD I’m not going to make this long, and I’m not going to say that I didn’t change. Lyceum changed me. I learned how to say no, work to learn, and this is the place where I learned how to appreciate things more, most particularly my friends.

I somehow feel a little guilty for I almost left this school last year, and I’m glad I stayed. “Ang elite hindi sumusuko” According to one of the manifesto made by Ian magtibay. XD And besides, I love the fact that I’m a Lycean because this is where the Elite four belongs and this is where the panda can be found. Ugh, I mean this is where Rej and I met. :3

Lyceum is already one of the important places in my life, let’s just leave it as that. this place not only teaches you the formal stuff, but also the values you’ll need in the late run.

Since this is my final blog entry, I wanna say Thank you to Miss A, for letting me experience how it feels like to express ideas by blogging. This is my first time having a blog, full of words. HAHA! Thank you miss A. XD

Week#6: Powered by words. XD ( Interview )

Oct 16th at 9AM / 0 notes

The interview with Studio Photographia and Grupo Nierro was only possible because of Andrew, yeah, like what Ner already mentioned, it is important for us to have contacts with such people that are already exposed or aware of the multimedia world.

Long story short, getting acquainted with people that shares your point of view or interests is important. though I wasn’t around when the duo conducted the interview, I still learned to communicate with the “Big Guns.” LadyLuck Digital Media was one of our options to interview, a Game developers and services group in Ayala. Through the help of a friend in APC, he introduced me to Sir Anthony David Calderon,( one of the Character artists of the Game Uncharted 2: Among thieves.)  Unfortunately, due to some schedule complications, the interview with Sir Calderon was cancelled, so me and my friend just wandered around Ayala Tower One and saw other Game developers/artists do their work while looking on a glass wall. :))

What I learned is. “Get acquainted with many people in the multimedia industry as early as possible so that you’ll have an idea where to start living your life in the real world in the future.”

Week#5: The College of Arts and Sciences!

Oct 4th at 11AM / 0 notes

“CAS is Fun!”

I can’t believe that this phrase is still stuck in my head! and you all know who’s to blame. Ian Magtibay and his viral video about CAS!

There’s no doubt that CAS is Fun, (besides the fact that this is where my best buds ( Elite Four ) belongs to and this is where I met Rej. :3 ) because almost everyone that wears the grey Lyceum uniform are positive in using Hyper causing pills. HAHA!

A place is only as good as the people you know in it, and this is what makes CAS different from other colleges.

The members of the CAS has this family-like sort of relationship, makes you feel that you’re just at home listening to your parents lecture you alongside with your brothers and sisters.

The College of Arts and Sciences may not be the best department, but I know for a fact that the CAS department and with the CAS Family is a good place for me to be.

Week #4: Ethics - Limits advertising?

Oct 4th at 11AM / 0 notes

Well, to be honest.. I was a little late when the seminar started and the only reason why I have something to type here is because I asked my classmates about the seminar, what they learned and what was the first part of the seminar and stuff, and thus, I learned from them. XD Here it goes.

Besides the fact that the speaker was kinda not(?) in the mood to talk or what, whatever the reason may be, as a result, the audience were not listening to what the speaker is trying to say, but there is this one thing I learned, because I can relate to the topic.

1. E-mail blasting.

this is where a specific company sends a “Group Message” to a large mailing list, most probably ( well hopefully) to their client’s e-mail addresses.

There’s no harm in advertising through E-mail as long as the person who will receive the E-mail is aware that he/she is subscribed or agreed to receive such mails. Some companies send advertisements via mail to random people, not just one, but lots of mail. In other words, SPAM!

It’s simply not ethical to send more than 20+ of the same e-mail. ( If you’re a victim of Spam messages, then there’s no need to explain this. XD )

2. Social Media

Here it goes, One of the Social networking Etiquette in FB is “Wag mag-tag ng mag-tag”.  Yes, we all know that Facebook is one of the most biggest social networking sites in the world, and thus, there are also lots of people that go online everyday AND it’s a place where you can advertise your product or stuff.

Again, there’s no harm in advertising through the use of Facebook, but as always, it’s always good to keep in mind what the customers would think about the product.

“You’re about to tag a picture of an advertisement about Diet pills to a malnourished person.” - So wrong.

choose the people you want to tag before you click.

Since the world is getting more and more advanced, and Facebook and Twitter has more registered users than the population of our country..then let’s always remember this:

“Think before you type, and think twice before you post.”

Week 3: PR

Sep 4th at 12PM / 0 notes

“I don’t care what other people think or what I look like, the important thing for me is that I can say what I want to say and I can deliver my message clearly.” - Miss Vanessa ( Publicity-Updates and Innovative Ways of Keeping up with the Evolving Marketing Practices )

Besides this, she also taught us different Communication and Advertising lessons such as PR Programs, Corporate Image, Corporate Identity and the Social Media Revolution.

I never knew that there is this such thing as Stealth Marketing where the audience is not aware that they are being marketed or the fact that only 14% trusts advertisements and 90% trusts peer recommendation. - Social Media Revolution 2011

There’s more to it and I’d like to share what I learned:

Corporate Image is what you see in a company, impression; perception about the company. It’s what the company makes you feel, in other words, Reputation Matters.

Corporate Identity is the logo, uniforms, or different colors and symbols used by the company to identify itself or to make it unique among other companies.

PR Programs:

Community Involvement is where the company establishes a more close relationship to its consumers.

Sponsorship, Environmental projects, participation in quality improvement schemes and Good practice in industrial relations.

The company should also establish a good relationship not only to their consumers as well as to their suppliers of raw materials as well as develop other commercial relationships.

She also discussed on how Traditional marketing is getting old and most people recommend using the Internet for marketing. To sum it all up, I really learned a lot during the seminar because she made me realize how important using different kinds of media in a business.
